ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Explore the art of Japanese marbling at the Small Victories studio. Suminagashi, which translates to "floating ink," is a wonderfully meditative, free-flowing process where ink is manipulated on water with brushes, fans, or even one's breath to create beautiful patterns that are transferred onto paper.

It's the perfect craft for lovers of color, pattern, and decorative paper, or for anyone who wants to try making something beautiful through a very simple, enjoyable process.

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to marble on several different papers, including traditional rice paper, some of our seed paper scraps, handmade recycled paper, and a fun mystery pile of printed seed card seconds (our inks fade in water, so the results can be a fun surprise).

NOTE: Participants should wear clothes that they don’t mind potentially staining while using inks.
